Great Wireless Printer!, January 15, 2012

I already have one of these and we have used it for about 6 months and loved it so much, I just bought another. It takes up very little space and does what we need it to do. It is not a really high volume printer, so if you want one of those, this is not the right one for you. I wanted a wireless printer that I could print from for any of our devices: ipads, macbook pros, imacs, airbooks. And this does it without any problems.It does require attention to detail when setting this up, so try not to take any shortcuts. All in all, HP did this printer right!

After extensive research on printers,I decided to purchase this HP Envy 114.It had the options I wanted and got great reviews from people on Amazon and from other comments elsewhere.

I have three different operating systems in my home.Mac Lion, Mac Snow Leopard and Windows 7. All three OS loaded flawlessly.All OS loaded from a single CD that came with the printer.I was able to setup the Network through my home WiFi with absolutely no difficulty at all.The software did it all.All I needed to do was follow the instructions as the disc loaded the software on all three of my computers.

You can tilt the display menu to fit your preference.You can set the printer to stay in idle mode so it’s continually ready for print from any room or computer in the home.Or even set it to a timer to shut down.The paper loads from the front bottom of the printer.The tray easily pulls out when needed to be filled.The printed page spews from the front as well.The display menu and paper extension automatically recesses back inside the printer after you grab the print.It is so much more quieter than the Cannon I owed.The speed is very good also.I have not yet tried to use my iTouch through air print or the e-print feature as of yet,but I see no reason why it wouldn’t be as flawless just the same.

Before you load the software on your computer,be sure to load the paper,ink and plug in the printer and follow the instructions from the printer’s menu first,then proceed to load the software in your computer(s)

The instruction has a web site address that offers 20 free faxes a month.So if needed, you can fax the odd time without cost to you through the web without using a phone line.

I will gladly update in perhaps about 6 months time to review the durability.

Very cool indeed, January 30, 2012

This printer is not for you if you plan to use it a lot. Access to paper is not super convenient.

HOWEVER, if you are interested in a sleek, sharp, quiet inkjet printer that is ePrint and iPad AirPrint compatible, then this is the one to get. It is heavy, it is quiet, it moves all by itself and just amazing to watch as you print something from the iPad. Then, it closes the door by itself. My family was just in awe.

Execlent SOHO Multi Function Machine, January 29, 2010

The Xerox Phaser 3300MFP has delivered more than I expected at a very reasonable cost given the system’s capabilities.

1) Physical installation is a snap– just remove it from the carton, plug cables into the only places they fit, remove the tape that holds doors closed, insert the toner cartridge, unlock the scanner mechanism and it’s done. In our case we also added the second 250 sheet paper tray which equally simple.

2) Software installation on a Windows-7 Professional platform was limited to inserting the CD-ROM, telling it to use a network connected printer, and picking the printer from a displayed list.

3) Setting up the printers firmware uses the web interface which worked exactly as expected and offered no problems that an occational quick look into the on-line manual failed to cure.

4) EVERY feature worked as documented, including scan to Email, scan to Network, and FAX forward to Email.

The web interface can be a bit difficult for people with little or no ability to actually read and follow instructions. But if you open the manual in one browser window and the machine’s web interface in another and then accept that Xerox knows more about their machine than you do… it all works fine.

Some features are especially nice. One very useful one is that it you can put a stack of pages in the feeder and then scan them directly to a folder on your computer in one of several formats. Another useful feature, especially for small business types, is that incoming faxes can be set to automatically forward to your email as a PDF file. This is great because if an order or contract is sent by fax you can get it on your Blackberry or iPhone when away from the office.

The only “fault” I have with it is the machine’s control panel. It uses a telephone keypad for all data input which makes things like entering Email addresses and mixed-case passwords sluggish. Perhaps Xerox will put a better human interface on the next generation.

Otherwise… a very good product that demonstrates good value.

Solid Small Office/Work Group Printer, April 28, 2010

I had been buying the Xerox Phaser 3200MFP/N Multi-Function Network Printer/Fax/Scanner/Email for branch offices I support but was very disappointed in the quality and cost per page. So when Xerox came out with the 3300 MFP I was interested in seeing how it compared.

While the part number maybe close, the machines are completely different. The 3300 MFP is more rugged, with a real paper tray (optional add on paper trays available), a lower cost per page, and better paper handling. It offers all of the features you would expect on a modern laser, scan to e-mail, network scanning, printing, and faxing. I have purchased 5 of these so far (now 10). The initial firmware these some of the units shipped with was buggy and as noted by another reviewer the Web user interface (UI) did not work in IE and other browsers. However, Xerox soon corrected that problem with a significant firmware update that corrected the UI and even required new drivers on the work stations.

Setup and administration was very strait forward via the Web interface (nearly identical to any other Xerox copier). You can import address books for fax and e-mail, and tweak all of the default settings. I have had no complaints from the users and with 9+ (now 14+) months of usage under there belt, these printers continue to perform well.

Other vendors may have similar products, but one area Xerox has really shined is there onsite technical support. While no of my 3300′s have required onsite services, Xerox has always come through for me on other units I have installed. (The onsite warranty is an optional add on.) (I have had one ADF feeder that had some problems jamming but they were quick to repair it)

So where does this unit come short? It does not support SSL for SMTP which means if you use Gmail or some other vendor that requires SSL for SMTP you are going to have trouble. One work around to this is setting up a computer running STUNNEL ([...]) a free open source project that you can use to proxy through. The other feature lacking is LDAP support for a centralize e-mail address list. The only other “weakness” it has is a limited darken/lighten range when making copies. It has this feature but it does not have the same range that a full blown copier has.

Bottom line if you are looking for a solid, cost effective, multifunction unit, in my opinion, this is it. (Revised this review because it does support duplexing which I had incorrectly stated it did not. My review is other wise still the same after more than a year of usage.)

Xerox Phaser 3300MFP, July 20, 2009

I’ve only spent about 6 hours with my new xerox phaser 3300 mfp and I’m very disappointed. It has a web page that is built into the machine. I have no trouble accessing it, but it is not compatible with any web browsers. I’ve tried FireFox and IE8 on a XP machine and FireFox and Safari on a mac. The navigation buttons disappears after you switch pages and the images don’t load until you hold your pointer over them. It is just flaky as can be. Then, to make things worse, when I do attempt to change a setting, I get an “error on page” warning in IE8. So, I can’t change settings.

The manual is also full of errors. It is like it was written for a different machine and pasted into this machines manual and not fully updated to be accurate with this machine. It tells me to go to areas in the browser accessible control panel that simply don’t exist. If Xerox reads this, look how it tells you to set SMTP in the browser based interface and then look at the reality of where the SMTP settings are.

I called Xerox and he confirmed the errors in the instructions and confirmed that it isn’t compatible with hardly any “new” browsers. He said it worked with a lot of outdated versions of popular browsers. He had me download OPERA rather than reverting to an older version of IE. Now it works fine, but I still have to figure it out without much help from the manual as it is not written with any degree of accuracy.

Great Quality Prints !!! Low Cost!!! The Perfect Printer, November 11, 2011

I normally do not write reviews, but always read them. I could not find many regarding this product so I will try to review.

I am Very Happy with this printer. I decided to organize my recipes using a digital scrapbooking program. In my naivety I thought I could just print PDF files on my HP Photosmart on normal printer paper, but it striped the paper about every 1/4 inch. I needed something that would print 8.5 x 11 in. photos. Not only do the photos print incredibly well, but also I could print the PDFs on normal paper without streaks – it actually didn’t look bad though the color was more muted and not as vibrant when the same was printed on photo paper.

I was able to print about 75 8.5 x 11 in. photos before the colored ink cartridge ran out. I had purchased a combo, color and black ink pack, for just under (it cost me for a colored pack and for black duo pack at Costco for my HP) and for under purchased 100 pages of photo paper. I really only needed the color, for the black is still pretty full but it averaged out to under .70 per 8.5 x 11 photo which is cheaper than I could find otherwise. I purchased this printer for 0 with free shipping, so overall it is a very economical printer.

The touchscreen is easy to use and accurately sensitive, The printer is compact and has a very sleak look to it and it quite sturdy; however, the paper feed tray and where the papers empties beneath it when coping or scanning documents is very narrow, yet this has not seemed to pose a problem for me thus far, but I have yet to do a larger document. We did have some problems connecting to our wireless router, but first, we have it hidden and second, we are certainly not the most compentant people when it comes to those things so I cannot rule out user error. We connected it directly to our router, then after it that, it read the wireless and connected without further incident.

Though I have run it through some tests, we have not had it long, so I cannot say anything to its long terms durability or Kodak’s customer service.

I cannot say enough praise about it however. If your worried about the quality and the comparitively lower price do not be concerned. The printer prints far better quality prints in every area over my HP Photosmart which cost signifigantly more to purchase. If your concern is the single color cartridge over the having individual colors, I found for the most part my colors ran out farely close together on my HP, but also it was so much cheaper to buy replacements in combo packs that I really never just bought blue or cyan, for example, individually. Not to mention the the lower cost of replacement ink means that over the long run you’ll save money on ink even though it has a single color cartridge. If you want high quality prints, versitilaty of printing options, and low costs this printer is it.

The best ever, November 26, 2011

In my many years of using a computer and printer, I must say this is the best I have ever had. Very easy set up, and Kodak support team is the best, I had a problem with setting up my laptop along with my main PC, they resolved my problem in a short time. I would recommend this printer to anyone who is thinking of a new printer.

Easy to use, nice option, November 27, 2011

Having been loyal to Hp printers I finally made the switch due to the high cost of their ink, and bloatware. This Eastman Kodak printer is a very good option. Setup was easy after using the disk, tired to let win7 load it, which it did, but would not connect via laptop, soon as I loaded from the disk was printing in minutes, wireless!

The 2 cartridge ink tray is really deceiving as the color ink is really 4 in one, the downside, if one drys out you’ll need to replace the entire cartridge, will see how long this ink last, I’ll update later.

Paid 9.95 for this printer, I hope it will last as long as my Hp printers did!

Best ink I’ve used, August 28, 2009

I’ve been using ink pens since a long time before ballpoints & gel pens were even thought of. The more popular inks on the market were products of the pen manufacturers who seemed to devote their engeneering energies into the pens themselves, thus most inks were just functional. The only waterproof writing ink I remember was blue/black in color, & did lighten significantly when doused in water. Of course, there was India Ink with its deep black, etc, but it didn’t function well at all in fountain pens. A friend introduced me to Noodler’s Heart of Darkness, & I’m hooked. It’s deep black color & resistance to water, etc, are outstanding. I especially like its non-feathering characteristic, which becomes more obvious when writing on flow grade & some recycled papers. Finally, the flow of ink from the pen nib is smooth and flawless. Without doubt……the best ink I’ve used. I prefer Noodler’s eliminate the free pen, & thus reduce the cost of the ink a couple of bucks.

i’m an illustrator, concentrating in oil – but eventually hitting all media. i bought the Noodler’s on a tip from a pen and ink buddy. i use the ink in a fine tipped fountain pen. the flow is smooth and steady. the coverage is very good, especially compared to my old india ink standard. it dries quick enough with minimal smearing when dry. i have found a bit of pigment release when i go over the ink drawing with watercolor, but it isn’t a waterproof ink, so that is to be expected. overall, a very good ink. i’m planning to buy more noodler’s products – brown, green… mix up that drawing effect a bit, especially with the watercolor over it.

Black at last!, May 24, 2009

Noodler’s Heart of Darkness black bulletproof ink. I write my personal journal in ‘Composition’ wide ruled notebooks. The ones I use have 100 sheets bound between two hardboard covers which gives me 200 pages. Last year I used two of these notebooks . . . Because my handwriting is poor I started using a fountain pen with black ink to print with so I cold read what I was putting on paper as my writing was just not legible. I used both cartridge ink as well as getting converters for my pens so I could use bottled ink, which immensely decreased my cost per page of printing. However the black ink I was using, cartridge and bottled, just didn’t yield a dense black . . . tending more to a very dark gray.

I read a review of Noodler’s ‘Heart of Darkness’Noodler’s Heart of Darkness Black Fountain Pen Ink and even though expensive, 4.5 ounces of ink is a lot of ink, I ordered it from Amazon. Wow! Dense, opaque black with no noticeable feathering and wonderfully quick drying. There is not a hint of gray in the dried ink . . . truly a wonderful ink and appropriate for anyone that want’s archival quality in what they write

I am not satisfied with this item. I requested clothes that can fit the American Girl dolls. The search brought this brand up. It does not fit a large doll. It only fits an extra large barbie. I live outside the U.S., so I can’t just return the items I have purchased. I am not happy with the misrepresenting done by this seller. :

I literally opened the box plugged it in, hit the button, and wham here is three copy’s of my family videos in about six minutes. That really impressed me. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact of the unit was supposed to be a Sony but I got a different brand name Amamax that was the only drawback, I guess this company makes them for Sony. Or, perhaps a little bait and switch?

DVD Duplicator for less, December 28, 2011

I purchased the Acard 1 to 3 DVD / CD duplicator after doing a great deal of research but having never had any hands-on expereience. The order fulfilment was rapid and after receiving permission to make copies for free distribution of a musical tape I had just recorded with a group, I ran off 25 copies in no time. Performance was satisfactory in all aspects and the quality of the reproductions is outstanding. The documentation does leave room for improvement but for the price its worth the annoyance.

This is without question, the best land line phone I have ever seen! Please look at my other reviews, you will see that I am NOT a paid reviewer to write what the manufacturer wants.

This phone does EVERYTHING! Sound is crystal clear. Both handsets and base unit have lit displays. Both have selectable ringer tones and volume. Each has independent “phone books” which can be copied from the base unit to the handsets or vice versa. Both the base unit and handsets have speaker phones. The phone books are super easy to program.

The answering system with date/day/time works terrifically! You can select pre-recorded message or make your own. The answering system capacity is 18 minutes or 64 messages. You can select between 2 and 7 rings before the answering system engages.

I like that the base unit works during power outages.

I especially like the five “speed dial” buttons to phone frequent friends or family with just one button. Great!

Call blocking works well.

Cordless handsets have great range and use rechargeable AAA batteries (included). The handset cradle recharges the batteries. The cordless handsets light up (back-lit). You can access the answering machine via the cordless handsets. The cordless handsets have speaker phones and headset jack. They have a clip so you can wear it on your belt.

It has a “handset locator”.

It supports English and Espahol. Instruction manual is well written and easy to use.

It even has an “alarm clock” feature.

I have not found a better land line phone! Strongly recommend!

Exactly what I wanted, July 25, 2009

I purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago, as a replacement for a phone that had issue with the audio. I also wanted to be able use a very expensive headset I have. I have spent hours trying to find the right phone. I don’t know what made me have an extra look at this phone, but the more I looked, and the more reviews I read, the more I liked it and I ended up purchasing it. I am using it mostly for my home office, but do use it for the occasional personal call as well.

Pros

====

* It has a good sound, so far I have not had the issues I had with my old phone. I have tried both the handset and the speakerphone, and like both. I particularly like the fact that I can put it on speaker, dial the number, and pick up the phone if I need to, or use the speaker phone. I also like that it’s possible to switch between handset and speaker phone. Nice touch!

* The buttons/keys are nice. Easy to see without being too large. There are 5 options for speed dial, which made my life very easy! Some buttons (soft buttons) change depending on what you are doing with the phone at the time (on call or not, for example)

* Menus that are easy to understand. The handset is a little bit trickier than the desk phone, but in essence you can do what you want on that too.

* Once a number is programmed into the phone, it can be sent from handset to desk phone and vice versa. I only have one handset (will buy a second one soon), but I understand from the descriptions that you cannot send between handsets. But both can send to desk phone, and from there can be sent to hand sets. You can send all, or individual numbers.

* Large display. It’s quite easy to read. I do have some issues with the display, see cons.

* Display. While I generally like the display, I wish it had been raised a bit, or that the phone had a greater angle. I have to either get off my chair or lift my phone in order to see the menus. Once a button is pushed, it’s easy enough to see due to the back light, but it annoys me that I have to stretch my neck to see. It’s a minor thing, but still.

* Answering Machine. When I got the phone, one of the first things I did, was to try to configure the answering machine. But that cannot be done on the desk phone, it has to be done by the hand set. Since that should be charged for 7 hours before use, this is a bit inconvenient. I thought this could have been done on the phone as well. The man telling me how many messages I’ve missed has a very metallic voice, clearly computer generated. It’s annoying, but nothing major.

* Phone bigger under the handset. This I didn’t realise looking at the picture, but the phone is not square. It is a good portion larger where the receiver is compared to the rest of the phone. That means that raising the phone at a larger angle may be an issue (see display above). One really needs a “cradle” to put the phone into.

* Metallic voice/feedback in my headset. I am not sure it’s the phone or the combination, but my headset (Plantronic) is in the 0-range, and this phone is no where near as expensive, which leads me to think it’s the phone. Especially since the headset has been used before without this issue. But it’s something only I hear, not the one I am talking with, and it’s not all the time either. It could be because it gets dual feedback, my headset pick it up, and so does the receiver (it has to be lifted off the hook).

But I like this phone, and I am likely to have it for a long time to come. It does the job much better than my previous phone, and the fact that I can use my headset is a serious bonus. I would definitely recommend it for anyone in need of a phone.

Edit: I just got another handset for this phone. Pairing the handset with the phone was a cinch, there is even a button for it. Then I just pressed the menu buttons and sent my entire phone list to the new phone. I also discovered yesterday that I can even listen in on the message on the handset when someone calls and I let it go to answering machine. I really like the features of this phone.

Many useful features, June 16, 2009

I was torn whether to rate this 4 or 5 stars. For my simple needs, it’s definitely a 5, but it does have some quirks.

Good:

Great sound quality. Corded base for power outages. Speakerphone (which works great) on all components, both base and handsets. Access to answering system messages from all components. Functions as an intercom (and very well, too). 100-number phone book, which can be copied between units either in total or one entry at a time, and nine phone number groups that you can give custom names. Five-number quick dial buttons on base. Large, easy-to-use buttons. Uses rechargeable AA’s (I *think* – might have been AAA’s – standard batteries, anyway) instead of the expensive proprietary kind. Supports up to six handsets.

Not so good:

Some menus confusing. Direct-access to functions using “#” and a numeric code a joke, to me – I want to navigate to a function using an intuitive menu, not look up a code in the user manual. On base unit, LCD contrast is not high enough to read display without backlight (at least in the location we’ve got it). Does not have a memo function as our previous (but much lower quality) system did, so I’m in the market for a fridge magnet recorder thingie now – which is just fine by my husband, as he hated my leaving messages to myself on the answering machine….! ;-> ) Cannot copy phone number groups between units – if you use that function, you’d have to name the groups on each unit and put each phone number in a group individually.

The reason I gave it a “5″ nevertheless is that the “not so good” things I listed mean virtually nothing to me for my simple needs, especially when bounced against the “good” things, which *do* mean a lot to me. Your mileage may vary, which is why I tried to list everything I’ve noticed about the unit so far.

Amazing chair for fantastic price!, July 21, 2011

I really enjoy my new mesh back office chair!!

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, highly functional chair this is the one for you. The only down side is that the arms do not adjust but for roughly bucks, it’s quite okay.

May not be a fair rating…yet!, December 28, 2011

I am rating this only at a “3″ because I was suprised when the shipment was delivered. There was no packing slip and the pieces were not well-packed. Very little bubble-wrap was used for packing made a lot of noise if the box was gently shook. It goes without saying that I’m concerned as to the quality until my son puts all the pieces together. He won’t be back at college for another 10 days so the box stays unassembled until then. Other than these comments, our son was extremely pleased to finally have an office chair to roll around as he studies towards his degree. And, the chair was delivered before I expected, so I was able to get it wrapped before he came home on Christmas break.
