This new file cabinet is has solid wood pieces all with a espresso finish. It is on swiveling wheels which make it easier to move around.
Dimensions: 27″ high x 19″ deep x 16″ wide.
This item is moderately easy to assemble. There are instructions included.
These also can be used for legal size, but hangers will be needed and are not included. This file cabinet is letter size width, but legal files can be used going side to side. You can pick up hangers at any local store for around Six to Ten Dollars.

This item was an exact match to my espresso computer desk with hutch I ordered. Once together the piece looks really good and is sturdy. The problems I encountered were fairly minor and with some forewarning can be avoided. 1) The holes for the dowel pins were a little deep. Be sure to use a light tap with a hammer or just your hands as to not pertrude all the way through the other side of the wood. We made the mistake of pushing one to far in , but the problem was easily corrected with minor defect left. 2) They were not the best instructions and the pieses could have been marked a little better to assist with assembly. Only a couple pieces are actually marked, but it just took a little longer to figure out. Lastly, the instructions show to put the screws for the drawer track through the bottom edge. Luckily we saw that this was starting to cause te edge of the drawer to split so we opted to put the screws in through the side of the track and predrill some holes for screw entry. The holes were already available on the track itself as an additional option use. It is definatly the better route. Avoid these problems and use this advice I believe you will find yourself easily rating this a 4 or a possible 5 star. Piece looks great just like the pic when time is taken and it is done properly. The Good: The Expresso File Cabinet is sturdy,priced below other file cabinets,and arrived in a timely fashion. The Bad and Ugly: directions for assembly are minimal, with blurry pictures of details. No directions, just pictures so go slowly. The finish was mared somewhat due to rubbing against the packing material. When attaching the rails to the bottom of the drawers it is best to drill tap holes first as the file cabinet is made of pressed board with a veneer finish and splits easily. Other areas have pretapped holes for screws so those areas are not a problem. The file drawer does not handle any hardware for Pendex files unless you do as I did and adjust the hardwear to fit. I tired three different manufactures of adjustable hanging folder frames and settled on Smead. Using a hack saw I shorted the vertical and horizantal metal frame by 1/2″. Pendex files just fit. The problem is the cross member bar for the file cabinet which prohibits “standard” file drawer hanging folder frames. |
