I love, love, love this ink. After trying Higgins (which I found to be weakly-tinted) and the ink in cartridges (Sheaffer, Pilot) for use in caligraphy, I found this to be far superior to anything else. The ink is a deep, rich, intense black. It has great body–liquid enough for good flow, yet the texture is not watery. It doesn’t bleed at all on any of the papers I’ve used (a caligraphy practice pad; cheap bond; nice, thick water color paper). It also dries relatively fast, i.e. almost immediately if I use a C-3 nib, or within 5 minutes–10 at most–if I use a brush or a C-6. When using the ink with watercolors, I usually I lay my watercolors on the pages first, then ink over it–that’s just the process I prefer. I know some people complain it’s not waterproof and that it smears when used with watercolors. That did happen a couple of times, when I tried watercoloring shortly after laying down the ink. If you let the ink “cure” overnight, for instance, I don’t think you’ll have this problem. I know that’s impractical for many people who use ink with watercolor. For me and the way I usually use this product, however, (as either a caligraphy ink or as ink over dried watercolor) it really is the perfect ink.

I bought this to use with a brush on 100 lb smooth bristol. When used with a brush it dries gray. Not super black at all. I thought that maybe I had not shook the bottle enough, but even after shaking and stirring- the results were same; disappointing. If you brush over a line made with a pen or marker, you could easily see the line once the ink dried. thank you, By
